So it probably comes as no surprise that sheep shearing is an integral part of out business. Doug Rathke is a professional sheep shearer and and takes his job very seriously. He has had extensive training down under from the experts to learn his skills and has sheared hundreds of thousands sheep to perfect his work. Some say that sheep shearing is an art to behold: the wool just seems to peel off as an accomplished shearer can make the job appear so effortless. But the truth is that many have tried, but few know what it takes to do the task. That is why we offer group or individual training sessions on how to shear sheep. These sessions are held at either a university setting, at a larger producer’s farm, or at our farm. The sheep shearing course on the farms is generally a three day session. Many people have successfully completed the Sheep Shearing Course and are now shearing their own flock as well as others, some have even gone on to make sheep shearing their profession.
